We’re in an exciting growth phase, building awareness and preparing to open a centralized facility to serve our community.

About the Role:

I'm Going To Be is seeking a highly motivated Senior Grant Research Specialist to help identify major funding opportunities that align with our mission.


This volunteer role focuses on researching high-value grant opportunities ($100,000+) that support nonprofit startup costs, healthcare access, disability services, community development, and facility construction initiatives.


The selected volunteer will work directly with organizational leadership to locate grants that are a strong strategic fit for our nonprofit and our long-term vision of creating a comprehensive medical, wellness, and community facility serving families and individuals with developmental disabilities.


This role focuses specifically on identifying strategic funding opportunities that leadership can pursue, not writing grant proposals.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify high-quality grant opportunities ($100,000+)

  • Focus on grants that support: Nonprofit startup funding, Community health initiatives, Facility development and construction, and Program expansion and outreach

  • Evaluate eligibility requirements to determine alignment with the organization's mission

  • Prioritize 1–5 highly relevant grant opportunities per month

  • Utilize grant databases such as Grants.gov,  Goodstack Grant Finder (Provided), and other databases

  • Provide clear summaries of each grant opportunity including: grant amount, eligibility criteria, deadlines, application requirements, and strategic fit with the organization

  • Submit identified opportunities through an internal grant tracking spreadsheet

  • Communicate with leadership regarding promising funding opportunities

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have an interest in nonprofit development or philanthropy

  • Enjoy researching and analyzing funding opportunities

  • Are detail-oriented and organized

  • Can independently evaluate grant eligibility

  • Have experience with grant research, nonprofit fundraising, policy research, or academic research (preferred but not required)
